Stronger and darker than pine, knotty alder is light brown with yellow and peach-colored highlights. The knots are more compact than knotty pine, adding a distressed feel that's slightly more formal and less rustic.

You may accentuate the appearance of the grain by applying any wood stain, or you may choose to leave the wood natural. When left in its natural state, your knotty alder door will darken over time into its own warmly individual tone.
